What is VoiceLayer?

VoiceLayer gives your AI agent a voice. Instead of typing, you talk, just like a phone call, and your agent talks back. Hold the mic and speak; VoiceLayer transcribes your turn, sends it to your agent, and reads the reply aloud. The agent can ask clarifying questions, think out loud, and use tools while you watch it work.

How do I connect my own AI agent?

VoiceLayer connects to AI agents that speak the MCP (Model Context Protocol). Your agent talks through a VoiceLayer MCP endpoint, and you talk to the app. If you just want to try it first, sign in and open the built-in demo agent to start talking right away.

Which devices are supported?

VoiceLayer runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Voice capture and playback work best on a physical device.

Why does the app need microphone and speech recognition access?

The microphone records your spoken turn and speech recognition transcribes it so it can be sent to your agent. You can grant these permissions when first prompted, or later in iOS Settings under VoiceLayer. Without them, you can still type your turns using the keyboard input bar.

Is my voice data private?

You can choose private on-device speech or server-powered voice per conversation. In server mode, audio and agent text are processed by third-party transcription and text-to-speech providers solely to deliver the voice interface; they are not used for any other purpose. Can I change the voice or speaking rate?

Yes. Open Settings from the gear icon on the chat list, then Voice & speech, to pick the default voice mode (on-device or server) and adjust the speaking rate.

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, select VoiceLayer, and change or cancel there.

How do I delete my account and data?

You can delete your account from inside the app. Open Settings from the gear icon on the chat list, scroll to the Account section, and tap Delete account. Enter your password to confirm. You lose access to your account immediately and this cannot be undone. It can take up to 30 days for your data, including your conversations and any voice recordings, to be fully removed from our servers.
